Confidence through performing arts

Micky

Dancing is and always will be in my blood. Coming from a family of singers, dancers, contortionist and athletes I was surrounded by music and creativity from a young age.

I started dancing at the age of 5 with my first dance class being Ballet. However, I found my calling in Tap and Modern Dance. I quickly moved through the grades and loved making people smile with my performances.

My love of the stage grew and I found myself torn between going to college, becoming a choreographer and taking on the West End. The West End and Choreography won and I got my first major gig at the age of 18 in a West End Show called Saturday Night Live at the London Palladium. From then I spent wonderful dancing years in numerous shows my favourite being The Cotton Club and 42nd Street. I left the West End to persue choreography working with a group called M4.

I spent 3 years touring with them around the UK, to finally end up with them at the MOBOs and doing the choreography for the show in 2001-working along side Fatima Robinson (Choreographer to Award winning Artist Aaliyah). Soon after I found my love for Teaching Tap, Modern, Hip Hop, Street Dance, Socaerobics and am now thrilled to be a part of the Breaking Barriers Family.

My daughter has been attending dance lessons at Breaking Barriers for three years now, and she absolutely loves it. It’s been fantastic to attend her performances and see first-hand just how happy and confident she is to share what she's learned. A big thank you to Breaking Barriers and, in particular, her teacher Leah.
