A Moment to Shine on the Big Stage

One of the most exciting highlights of the year at Breaking Barriers is our Annual Show, where our students take to the stage to celebrate everything they have been working towards in their classes.

These special performances are held at local theatres, giving children the incredible opportunity to perform in a real theatre environment complete with professional lighting, microphones and staging. Performing in this setting helps children experience the magic of theatre while building confidence and pride in their achievements.

Friends and family are invited to watch the show, making it a wonderful opportunity for students to share their hard work and passion for performing with the people who support them most.

Celebrating Progress and Hard Work

Throughout the year, our students learn and develop skills in dance, singing, drama and performance during their Breaking Barriers classes. The annual show brings these pieces together in a spectacular performance that showcases their dedication, creativity and growth.

Children work together as a team, learning the importance of supporting one another on and off the stage. The experience of rehearsing and performing together helps build friendships, teamwork and confidence, creating memories that last long after the final curtain call.

Every child is given the chance to shine on stage, whether they are performing in a group number or taking on a special moment in the spotlight.

A Professional Theatre Experience

We want every child to feel prepared and confident when stepping onto the stage. That’s why all performers are given the opportunity to rehearse in the theatre before the performance, allowing them to become familiar with the stage, lighting and space.

Backstage, students are supported by licensed chaperones, ensuring that children are supervised, organised and well looked after throughout the day. This helps the event run smoothly while allowing performers to feel calm, supported and ready for their big moment.

The Highlight of the Year

For many of our students, the annual show becomes the most exciting day of the year. The buzz backstage, the anticipation before going on stage and the applause from the audience all combine to create a truly unforgettable experience.

Many of our Breaking Barriers students who have performed with us for several years often say the show is their favourite part of being involved, and something they look forward to every year.

It is a day filled with achievement, celebration, confidence and joy—a moment where every child can step into the spotlight and be proud of how far they have come.
